About Us - Our History

Immanuel's history includes two major aspects: the physical migration of the church that we know of as Immanuel today from its beginnings as North Church in 1824, and its ministers who led this evolution through the years.

To help us understand this complex and rich history, Jack French, Janet Morrill and Al Watson have researched many books, articles and artifacts from our Heritage Room at Immanuel as well as from other locations, and have presented it here for our understanding. Much of the material has been excerpted from The Prow of the Ship: Preachers and Preaching Over 150 Years, edited by Robert L. Edwards © 1979 by Immanuel Congregational Church.

For simplicity's sake we have split off these two "histories" into separate pages:
The History of Immanuel: Its Locations and Journeys — and —
The History of Immanuel: Its Ministers
