Church Office: | Serving in the spirit...Congratulations to The Rev. Nancy Allen...
Nancy is a 2005 graduate of Andover Newton Theological School through the co-operative Master of Divinity program with Hartford Seminary. She is In-Care through the Middlesex Association of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Congregational Church in Killingworth since 1986, where she served in various capacities including kindergarten and seventh grade Sunday School teacher, and adult supervisor for the Junior High youth group. While interning as student minister at the First Congregational Church of Vernon for two years, she taught the confirmation class and participated n both local and out-of-state mission/ministry opportunities with youth, in addition to worship leadership and committee responsibilities. With an area of concentration in global-cross-cultural and interfaith ministry, Nancy has a strong interest in promoting cultural sensitivity and acceptance of diversity. During her seven years of part-time study to complete her degree program, she served in an outreach capacity at AIDS Ministries Program, a Hartford based interfaith program whose mission is to promote HIV/AIDS advocacy, care and education to the religious community. Through this ministry, she has worked with people of diverse cultural, ethnic, and racial backgrounds, and is familiar with the community surrounding Immanuel. With a passion for Christian education for all ages, Nancy recently completed a workshop series for Christian educators facilitated by the United Church of Christ Partners in Education. She is eager to serve Immanuel in its Ministry with Children and to offer a warm welcome of hospitality to the neighborhood in which we serve. |

Congratulations to Rev. Nancy Allen who was recently ordained, who who will be serving our congregation as a part-time staff person for Ministry with Children. In this capacity, she will assist the Board of Christian Education with specific projects and also help us to find ways of becoming more available and welcoming to families with children in our neighborhood.
