Readers Guild
When people of faith gather for public worship, an essential part of that gathering is the reading of sacred scripture. The participants in the Readers' Guild at Immanuel Church are committed to the process of reading scripture in ways that help ancient texts to be presented with clarity and power. Each year two training sessions are held for those who wish to be part of the Readers' Guild. Through these opportunities we engage in exercises that help us to free the human voice so that it can be used as an effective instrument for participation in the drama of the Word. We also discuss the merits of using different translations of biblical texts so that the stories of our tradition may be presented with freshness and vigor.
