Last year, over 30 people from Immanuel volunteered and mingled with over 500 residents of South Marshall Street at their annual Block Party. We gave away almost 80 bikes and 2,000 children’s books! This year, we’ll once again provide great hot dogs and hamburgers, games for the children, and a variety of fun entertainment. Over 25 non-profits from our neighborhood will be providing activities for children.
Opportunities to help:
- Donate children’s books – new or used (please bring to Immanuel)
- Donate a used bike – (please bring to Immanuel this month. They will be fixed up to give to the children at the party
- Volunteer to paint faces at an Immanuel table, distribute books or grill and serve food
The Block Party, just three blocks from Immanuel, begins at Marshall House homeless shelter and stretches past the 16 Habitat houses, to the end of the block where the Karen and Nepali refugees live. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the residents to get to know each other, and, it is a terrific opportunity for us, as volunteers, to get to meet some of our neighbors! Look for the sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall. For more information, contact Nancy Rion, firstname.lastname@example.org.
