Second Hour Discussion: Mexican Artist Carlos Hernandez Chavez and his "Paintings from Puerto Rico: The Skin of the Earth," Sunday, November 11th, following Worship

A muralist and visual artist of international acclaim, his paintings and murals are on permanent display at institutions around the U.S. and Europe, including Hartford City Hall. Carlos came here in 1967, ostensibly the first Mexican to settle in Hartford. In addition to being a respected artist and educator, he is an accomplished photographer and musician. He has received numerous humanitarian awards for his work in the community including the Immigrant and Refugee Coalition's Immigrant of the Year Award. Carlos will be speaking to us about his work this Sunday, as well as performing at our "Solar Saves Lives in Puerto Rico Fiesta" on November 16th. Please enjoy Carlos' stunning paintings while they grace our Community Room Gallery.
