Bring Your Checkbook: Final Day of Alternative Marketplace this Sunday, December 16th

Gifts that give twice! At Immanuel, we like to offer many opportunities during Advent to share our good fortune with others, near and far. In addition to the “shoe boxes of gifts” for Marshall House mothers, and the Mitten Tree for Rawson School first graders, we offer our support to several beloved nonprofit institutions in honor of those we love.

  • A gift to Heifer Project International will send a domestic farm animal of your choice to a family across the globe to be shared with the entire village;

  • A hand lettered certificate from Loaves & Fishes will tell your loved ones they have helped feed the hungry in Greater Hartford and supported the soup kitchen in Immanuel’s building;

  • A donation to Church World Service will send not only the warmth of blankets and shelter around the world, but also support CWS lesser known line of work advocating for LGBT protections and rights in distant places where people are at risk for being themselves;

  • Beautiful Christmas cards by Joni Earekson Tada will be sold by Lynn Johnson in support of Wheels for the World, which helps provide wheelchairs for those in need around the globe.

Look for Social Action Committee volunteers at card tables in Fellowship Hall on Sunday to accept your checks or cash in support of any or all of these organizations. And thank you for your always-generous giving.
