Immanuel is embarking on a new ministry! We are starting a Jessie’s Community Garden (JCG) at Immanuel to grow fresh, healthy food for and WITH our neighbors in need. In memory of Jessica Lynn Kostin, the Kostin family teamed up with the Jewish Community Relations Council to launch JCGs throughout Hartford that combine growing vegetables with social awareness and service to the community. Ninety percent of what we grow will go directly to the community, including our partners at Loaves and Fishes. However, we are not only inviting the community to take from the garden, but to join also in the planting, the tilling, and harvesting. This is an opportunity to be in communion with one another and the wider community as we partake in and witness God’s seasonal miracles. All ages are encouraged to participate. No experience is necessary, just time and good will.
