Join our Lenten Book Study: Climate Church, Climate World: How People of Faith Must Work for Change, by Rev. Jim Antal, Wednesdays, March 13th, 20th, 27th and April 3rd, 6:30-8pm, in the Chapel

Our book study begins this coming Wednesday! Please join in. Sign up on the sheet posted in Fellowship Hall or contact Roland Axelson, rgaxelson@gmail.com or (860) 817-2915. The book is available at Amazon or Barnes and Noble, OR if needed, we’ve purchased some copies to borrow.

For March 13th, we’ll focus on the Forward by Bill McKibben, Preface, Introduction and Chapter 1, “The Situation in Which We Find Ourselves,” pp. 9-29. Questions to ponder, as you read, which we will discuss, will be forwarded via email to all participants no later than Sunday evening, March 10th. Then after each session, additional sections of the books to be read along with questions for discussion will be presented.

As you reflect on participating, you are encouraged to watch the link below to this past Sunday’s 60 Minutes episode on the “Julianna vs. United States” law suit working its way through the Courts. The lawsuit filed on the behalf of 21 kids (youngest 11) alleges the U.S. Government knowingly failed to protect them from climate change. If the plaintiffs win, it could mean massive changes for the use of fossil fuels.

Rev. Antal’s book is a guide to helping people grapple with Climate Change, which he believes is the most urgent problem humanity has ever faced. For some, no matter the science data and other public knowledge, climate change/global warming continues NOT to be on people’s radar. Climate Church, Climate World will help us grapple with the issue and what we as people of faith can do. All are welcome!
