Ready to Step Outside your Comfort Zone? Ready for Honest Conversation about Racism? Ready to Engage in Dismantling Racism?

The next Undoing Racism Training will be offered Tuesday – Thursday, June 11-13th at Beth El Temple in West Hartford. The 2 ½ day intensive workshop will include Immanuel members, Beth El members, and participants from other local faith and community organizations. The trainers from the People’s Institute for Change and Beyond are highly trained, sensitive, and dynamic.

Pursuing our church’s commitment to do the hard work of dismantling racism, Kari and Isaac and twenty-four Immanuel members have been trained in the past year and a half, and our goal is for all of ICC’s leadership and as many members as possible to participate in this life-changing experience. Here is what one of us, Iris Branch, says about her training last fall:

"In my life I have participated in and even conducted many training sessions on racism. Undoing Racism was different from all of them; it didn’t sugar coat or soft sell the ideas presented. One of its strengths was the way it made participants see how enmeshed racism is in our society and how the solutions to the problem are not easy or quick. I highly recommend the training as a great beginning to addressing the issue."

Yes, participating in Undoing Racism Training requires a significant commitment of time and money. And, yes, it is worth it. There is scholarship money available so that all may participate. For more details and to inquire about financial assistance, call the church office.

Join your fellow Immanuel members in this journey of faith and hope. Sign up for the June training and help us move forward together.
