Green Forum on Divestment: Co-sponsored by IREJN and Immanuel, Sunday, June 2nd, 2-4:30pm, in Fellowship Hall

Fossil fuels are not only bad for our planet – they are bad for our portfolios, too! During this forum, you will learn why investments with fossil fuel stocks consistently underperform investments without them. You will also learn how church endowment funds and individual investors can thoughtfully and strategically divest from fossil fuels (whether you are currently invested in stocks or in mutual funds).

Keynote speaker via video is Rev. Fletcher Harper, Executive Director for Green Faith. Bill McKibben will participate with a recorded video especially for the Forum. There will be a panel session with financial experts Brett Greenfield, Portfolio Manager for Aris Faith Based Fund, Henry May who successfully led the effort to divest at First Congregational Church, Old Lyme, CT, and Michael Winterfield, Independent Financial advisor. An open discussion will follow.

Refreshments provided by Immanuel’s Environmental Action Committee.

During apartheid, divestment was a powerful strategy for change. It is time to divest from fossil fuels and move our country to 100% renewable energy.  FREE but RSVP at
