Position Title: Director/Minister of Outreach and Justice

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Location: Immanuel Congregational Church, UCC, Hartford CT

Is this Position for You?: Immanuel Congregational Church has a deep and demonstrated commitment to the ministry of outreach and justice. We see the work of service and the work of justice as integral to the life of this congregation.

In addition to the Director/Minister having engagement with other church programs and activities, this position will focus on engaging the members of the congregation, leveraging our power as a deeply rooted faith community and collaborating with the surrounding neighborhoods in efforts that create measurable impact in the community. The Director/Minister will also help the congregation identify strategies to address the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors.

This position, the exact title to be refined depending upon the chosen applicant’s background, will be the lead staff member supporting:

• the congregation’s vision to make a concrete difference in the lives of folks dealing with poverty and in working for systemic change.
• the Senior Minister and congregation through involvement in other church programs/activities, worship, and pastoral care.

• Have a combination of relevant educational background and experience in working with vulnerable communities, organizing, direct service
• Are aligned with the mission and values of Immanuel Congregational Church: love, inclusion, justice, outreach and spiritual growth
• Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency with social media.
• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals
• Have and can share a vision for congregations to be deeply engaged, alive, and relevant in the most broken places of our communities.
• Are ordained or in the ordination process with a seminary degree (this is a plus but is not required)

Compensation and Benefits: This full-time position has a combination of weekday, evening, and weekend, especially Sunday, hours.

• Salary $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience
